Michael Brunnock @ The Purple Sessions : Down by the Araglin

I know we often use the term "rare performance" to describe something very special, but never has it been more true than in this example of a great vocalist delivering a heartfelt song that is in itself a "rare " & ancient tune brought to new life with this great story Michael Brunnock performs " Down by the Araglin" to finish his set at the Purple Sessions & you could have heard a pin drop.this recording was made using the ambient room mics because the room was hushed by the wonderful vocal & great story introduction. Also rare & of note here is the summing up of the evening as the host was moved to tingles by the performance so much so that it deserved to be included in this great moment for the purple sessions.

The Ghost of Roger Casement by Michael Brunnock

“Roger Casement was not just a great Irish patriot, he was also one of the great humanitarians of the early 20th century, a man who is remembered fondly by so many people across the world for his courageous work in exposing the darkness that lay at the heart of European imperialism,” the Irish President Michael D. Higgins said, referring to Casement’s work in exposing exploitation in the Congo and in South America.

Michael Brunnock ~ Man Overboard

On their way home from a cub scout water safety course, 10-year-old Brandon and his sister, 8-year-old Maya were listening to "Man Overboard" in the car and began visualizing the scenes from the song armed with their new knowledge. The kids and their mom thought it might be fun to illustrate a music video for the song using literal depictions of each line and verse. After six weeks of dedicated work by the kids, mom put together the drawings and a video was born.
